This past weekend, I had the opportunity to sit on the other side of the judges' table once again for Missouri FBLA's (Future Business Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference. It was such a blast to be back in that environment and see all the competitors so fired up!
Being a young professional myself, I have to say that being a part of FBLA has been a game-changer for me. It helped me develop my skills, confidence, and connections in ways that have been invaluable in my career. Every time I talk about public speaking or job interviews, I always give credit to the many presentations I did while competing, leading chapter meetings, giving club presentations at the middle school, and hosting our District Leadership Conference.
Watching these students put their all into their 3-7 minute presentations after months of hard work was really inspiring. You could tell that they were putting it all on the line, which made it all the more special. I can definitely say that the future of business, design, and tech are very bright!
I honestly owe so much to the advisers, leaders, and members who supported me along my journey, and I hope that I can continue to give back to the organization and its members.
TLDR; If you have a high school or college student in your life, PLEASE encourage them to join FBLA. It might just change their life :)
Kind words from peers, mentors, coworkers, and supervisors throughout my professional journey.
